Earlier today, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published a Notice in the U.S. Federal Register ("FRN") titled "Agency Information Collection Activities; New Collection of Information; Global Interoperability Standard (GIS)." This FRN marks a pivotal step in the rollout of the National Customs Automation Program (NCAP) pilot.
Anticipated start date: December 2024
The anticipated start date for the NCAP pilot, according to FRN procedures, is likely to be December 2024. This marks the culmination of our efforts over the past five years designing the standards for GIS data, which utilizes decentralized identifiers (DIDs) and verifiable credentials (VCs) to help identify legitimate products and associated companies and build a transparent supply chain.
